Has anyone been to the Ruins of Alph lately? I know I investigated them for a few weeks when I was in Violet City when I started out, but has anyone else?
[He pauses, then tugs out his Trainer Handbook. He's written something in the front cover of it, and he's going to post it.]
Our words shall remain here for the ages,
Thus we shall erect a Pokémon statue outside.
They possess great insight and refuse the outside world.
We humans must learn to walk in harmony with them. We depart for their sakes.
That's roughly what the text on the walls. It took me a while to figure it out... That's why I was there for so long. I'm still kind of disappointed that I didn't see any weird Pokémon while I was staying though. I guess they're really shy.

I had once heard that there is a species of Pokémon that look like letters, and the writing on the walls of the Ruins seemed like carvings of Pokémon at certain angles. I theorized that the appearances these Pokémon had or have were used as an ancient form of writing.
Ruins of Alph, as in Ruins of Alphabet, most likely. Unfortunately, without a proper follow-up expedition and only year-old notes to draw from, that's all I'm capable of saying.
[... yeah this is what happens when you talk ARCHAEOLOGY with Hope.]
