[Hello, Route! You get the pleasant scene of Violet City again - he would've moved on by now if not for the ruins south of it, which he's been tediously exploring and training in - as well as Luca looking, well. A little beaten up. A Buneary's sitting further back with a Sentret, the former giving Luca a dirty (?) look as the latter sort of naps, and --

Well, it's about those two, at any rate.]

Um... According to the teacher at the school here [because he's just. been checking on a few things. okay?] Scout - my Sentret - she should've evolved by now... but she hasn't. She's certainly strong enough, I think... Is it possible for Pokémon to delay their own evolutions?

[He pauses, then yelps as the Buneary makes its way over (after setting the Sentret down carefully, of course) and punches Luca's shoulder.]

Spada--! Can it wait? [Foot tapping, mister. Hurry it up.] We'll be staying in Violet for a little longer. Just go back to Scout, okay? And make sure Minor's not taking things from the Pokémart again. Or from anyone, actually.

[Once that's gone, Luca sighs and slumps his shoulders.]

...My egg hatched a little less than a week ago, and all he's done is bully me. I think he's trying to tell me looking at the ruins is a waste of time, but... I think it's all very interesting... Also, I've heard there are strange Pokémon to be found there? I haven't seen any myself, but if any of you have, I'd like a little more information on the matter.

[And off goes the 'Gear! Those in Violet can find they're missing a few small items, courtesy of one kleptomaniac Teddiursa ~~soon followed by a Buneary dragging the culprit away -- with none of the items being given back nope why would he do that~~, or find Luca sitting outside of the gym with his Audino, getting a little patched up/sassed at ~~and he will actually return stolen items if one does get pickpocketed by his bear~~.

Or both, actually.]

I've only got the barest idea of how the evolving stuff works to begin with, so I dunno about the Pokemon delaying it themselves. Only one of mine that's done it is pretty laid back, though, so he might just not care.

[Harry scratches his head for a bit.]

Wouldn't surprise me if they could, of course. These things are already pretty 'there is no spoon' about the rest of science, their own biology isn't much of a stretch.

...And sometimes training them more helps with the bullying thing. Burns off excess energy or whatever.

[Not that he has any experience with that sort of thing.]

[Pokémon are just weird.]

Thank you. And training, huh? I guess I could let him go for a little more than the rest of my party...

[There's a beat, as he realizes that came out a little wrong. More self-confidence destroying than he intended.]

...Like, try emphasizing discipline and self-control, I guess. Not just send it into battle.

You should stand up for yourself. You shouldn't have to set aside your own interests just because it might bore him, especially since you're his trainer. They matter.

[It's not like he's having the same problem with his Shellder or anything.]

Maybe I'm just a bad trainer. He liked me before he realized we were going to be staying here a while longer...

I doubt it has anything to do with your ability to train. Some people--and Pokemon--are just impatient. Like I said, you should assert yourself more. Make your Pokemon see that you're not a push-over. Maybe even try to get him interested in the ruins as well. What sort of things have you noticed that he likes, so far?

He's happy bullying me? [Wow that totally doesn't sound like someone he knows --] He doesn't do it to any of his teammates, just to me...

Oh, no! [ ;w; ] I meant, he must be happy in that form and that's why he doesn't want to evolve? But it's really cruel of him to do such thing to you.

[Rin overhears the 'gear transmission but it doesn't apply to him until he's seen Luca with his own eyes. Aw, he looks so sad just sitting there by the Gym. Poor kid. Seeing as how Rin has just granted himself some time before he re-challenges the Violet Gym, he walks close enough to Luca to get his attention. Poochy, his Poochyena, reaches Luca's side first.]

Yo. [He raises his hand in greeting. Poochy offers none.] My pokemon haven't evolved either, but I wouldn't worry about it. They'll do it when they're ready. ...I want to hear more about those ruins.

[Luca glances up -- oh, company! He offers Rin a smile - as well as Poochy, of course - and... doesn't move from his spot, because the ground's pretty comfy and Scout's still sleeping a little ways away. He'll interrupt her nap only if he has to.]

A few others have told me not to worry about the evolution thing too, so... I guess I won't. [But. Ruins!] They're a little ways south of here, and they have sliding picture puzzles. I think they're of Pokémon, but I've never seen any of them before.

That's the spirit! No point worrying about something like evolution. It's like worrying about growing it. When it happens, it happens.

[Rin decides to sit down beside Luca for no other reason than to get comfortable as he listens about the ruins. It's all new and exciting to him.] Sliding puzzles? That sounds like something from an action adventure manga! I'd love to check them out. Do you think you could solve those puzzles?

Aren't your other pokemon stepping in to help? You shouldn't let him hit you like that.

Well, Scout's too small to do anything and Minor's usually in his ball, since he tends to pick things up he shouldn't when he's out. [Where is that bear anyway.] Doctor thinks it must be good for me or something because he never really steps in, or maybe he thinks that I should discipline Spada myself, since I'm their trainer and all... But it isn't like he does it all the time, just when he's eager to move on... I guess.

Right.

[Kiki's privately of the opinion that that is one rude Buneary, but says nothing more. It really isn't any of her business.]

Maybe he is itching to travel; some people are just like that.

[Definitely an urge Kiki can sympathize with, considering.]
